By the summer of 1966 musical styles were changing and threatening to leave Chad & Jeremy's light, pleasant pop style behind. Distant Shores indicated that they were only beginning to come to grips with the situation. The song would be the duo's last Top 40 single, peaking at #30 on the Billboard Hot 100 at #30 in August 1966.
